Nidhal CHATTA has been teaching acting live, in front of the camera, since early 2017.
The practice of Zen and Budo deep breathing exercises, which reduce anxiety, heart rate and enhance concentration and self-confidence are central to his teaching.
Inspired by a real life gender and equality event, the goal of this course was to develop a short film script to professional standards..
In association with Nidhal CHATTA , CAWTAR was very keen to follow through the process, up to and including the production of the selected screenplay projects.
6 short scripts, 6 young directors, were shortlisted to participate in the second phase of this Master Class in November 2018. They also participated in a special Master Class in January 2019, dealing with film directing and organic acting. The goal being the funding and production of the 6 short films in the 1st half of 2019.
From September 2018 to March 2019, Nidhal worked on this special project under the auspices of CAWTAR and SouthMed WIA. The grand finale, was the award ceremony for the best short film script and the best training guide, organised at the El Makhzen Cultural Centre, Tunisia, showcasing the six months of intensive work with a great team and great candidates.
Throughout his career Nidhal CHATTA has worked with renowned actors such as Lotfi ABDELLI, Hichem ROSTOM, Jean-Marc BARR, Abdelmonem CHOUAYET, Fatma NASSER, Elisa TOVATI, Taoufik BAHRI and many more.
His approach to directing actors is organic. This means that the actor must live what his character lives, he must draw from the depths of his inner self and go in search of what only he can find.
Nidhal CHATTA works a lot with his actors before shooting. He likes to isolate them from the pressure of the set and takes the time to develop a relationship of trust and professional intimacy with them in order to explore all the facets of their characters.
Elia Kazan, one of the founders of The Actors Studio liked to say: “… Emotion must be real, not pretended, it must be real and not indicated…”
His dream of launching his own Actors Studio together with the unique concept of guiding his students through the Master Classes was the next logical step.
Nidhal started his own school, Nidhal Chatta Acting Studio, in 2021, where students receive high quality training, incorporating his organic approach, to produce the next generation of actors and actresses under one roof.
